Empty Property Owned by a Charity
If you are a registered charity that owns an unoccupied property, you may be exempt from Council Tax.
The exemption applies for a maximum period of six months. This depends on the date the furnished or unfurnished property became unoccupied.
The previous occupier of the property must fit the aims of the charity; please provide a list of the charity's objectives to verify this. If you believe your charity is eligible then please read and complete our Class B application form (PDF) [126KB] . Please return the form by email: counciltax@e-lindsey.gov.uk or by post.
Change in Circumstances
If you qualify for the Council Tax exemption you must tell us within 21 days if there is a change that might affect it. We can impose a £70 penalty if you do not tell us about a change. Keep us informed of changes on counciltax@e-lindsey.gov.uk or by calling 01507 601111.
