Information for Holidaymakers
Holiday Static & Touring Sites are licenced by the Local Authority and the Caravan Site Licence has conditions attached which cover fire safety and other health & safety matters.
There are currently two sets of Licence Conditions for Sites that were in existence prior to and after 2014. A copy of the Site Licence for the Park should be displayed prominently on site and should confirm which Licence Conditions are applicable. A copy of the Site Licence Conditions can be viewed in the Related Documents section at the bottom of this page.
Once issued, a Licence remains valid until a park is sold, at which point the Licence will need to be transferred to the new owner. Upon the death of a caravan park owner a new Licence Application would need to be made.
Annual Site Licence Inspections are carried out to ensure that Holiday Sites comply with the requirements of their Site Licence. Any breaches identified will need to be rectified within an agreed timescale. Further enforcement action can be taken against sites that fail to comply with their Licence Conditions.
We can investigate complaints regarding Holiday Sites, provided that the complaint relates to a breach of Site Licence Conditions. If you would like to make a complaint, please contact us using the details on our Contact Us page.
There are some cases where the Local Authority is not able to investigate. These matters may be dealt with via other agencies including Lincolnshire County Council Trading Standards, or the Health & Safety Executive.
We are not able to investigate any breaches of Site Rules as this would be a private civil matter between yourself as the Caravan Owner and the Park Operator. Residents can take a Site Owner to Tribunal over breaches such as these. We would recommend that you seek independent legal advice.
What3Words
We encourage all visitors to Caravan Sites to find out the What3Words location of their caravan to make it easier for the Emergency Services to pinpoint their exact location in case of emergency especially if staying on a site with a large amount of pitches.
Please visit https://what3words.com/ to find out your exact location.
Accessing Local Services
We would expect you to use local services as you would normally do when on holiday. As an example, if you were taken ill while at the accommodation, or developed toothache, we would expect you to use a local doctor or dentist, for urgent treatment. Your site operator should hold all the relevant information for you to request temporary emergency care at the local doctors or dentist. Please contact your site office for more information regarding this.
Reduce the Risk of Crime through Caravan Park Watch
Caravan Site Owners, Site Managers, Lincolnshire Police and other representatives from the caravan industry, including insurance companies, Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue and our Site Licensing team meet regularly to discuss caravan related topics. Members of the Caravan Park Watch panel are working to educate visitors in keeping their belongings safe & secure whilst on holiday.
Recommendations to reduce caravan crime rates are as follows:
- Lock and secure windows when leaving your caravan unattended.
- Lock all doors when leaving the caravan unoccupied.
- Leave a light on to make your caravan look occupied when out after dusk.
- Ensure your valuables are not visible from the windows.
- Fit an intruder alarm to alert other residents or site staff of a potential break in.
- When inside your caravan and the windows are open, hide all keys and other valuables securely to avoid snatch theft.
- Always preserve the scene of a burglary so we can obtain any possible forensic evidence.
