Opportunity to join East Lindsey District Council's Audit and Governance Committee

The Audit and Governance Committee is seeking a committed individual to serve as an Independent Member for a four-year term beginning in January 2024.

The committee is a key component of East Lindsey's corporate governance arrangements.  It provides an independent and high-level focus on the audit, assurance and reporting arrangements that underpin good governance and financial standards.

The Committee consists of nine Councillors reflecting the political composition of the Council and two co-opted independent members.

The successful candidate will bring a balanced, objective, independent and open-minded approach to the role and through their knowledge, experience and skills, will further support the Committee to undertake its functions.

In considering your application you should be aware that the typical commitment required from an Independent Member is expected to include preparation time and attendance at five committee meetings per annum as well as further ad hoc meetings and attendance at training and development sessions.

Committee meetings are held at East Lindsey District Council's Offices at the Hub, Horncastle and take place on Wednesday mornings, start time 10.15am. Independent Members are able to claim reasonable travel expenses.  Whilst an allowance is not currently paid to Independent Members, a review of allowances will be undertaken later in this financial year.  All Committee Members receive an induction and other appropriate training.
