East Lindsey District Council extends support for community groups tackling social isolation
In a commendable effort to combat social isolation, East Lindsey District Council has proudly supported a further 34 community groups with self-isolation funding throughout 2023/24.
Building on this success, for the second year, an additional £60,000 will be injected into the fund, reinforcing the council's commitment to fostering community well-being.
Originally sanctioned from the Cost of Living Support Budget, a total of £60,000 was allocated to initiate a small grant scheme benefiting community hubs and groups dedicated to addressing self-isolation challenges across East Lindsey. This financial boost aims to empower these organisations to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
Funds awarded in this period included equipment to provide warm meals at warm spaces/community hubs, running costs of warm spaces, facility improvements at Carrington Village Hall, as well as sessions for residents to learn new skills at Louth Men's Shed.
This funding enables community groups to achieve impactful outcomes, ranging from enhanced outreach programs to resourceful initiatives fostering a sense of connectedness among residents.
Cllr Sarah Devereux, Portfolio Holder for Partnership, said: "Our communities are at the heart of promoting well-being, and this funding demonstrates our ongoing commitment to supporting local groups. Each group can apply for a maximum of £2,000, which will help us continue our work together to build a more resilient and connected East Lindsey."
Applications open from Tuesday 1st October 2024. For further information and to apply please visit www.e-lindsey.gov.uk/socialisolationgrant
