Councillor Allowances
Each of our 55 Councillors receive a basic allowance to reflect the work that they do to represent their constituents. Some can also claim for special responsibilities.
Each Councillor receives a basic allowance for the work that they do to represent their constituents. They can also claim for:
- Special Responsibility Allowances, which are paid to Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of Committees, Leader of the Council, Members of the Executive Board and Leaders of Political Groups
- Childcare / carers allowance, which Members can claim for when attending council business
- Travel and subsistence expenses can be claimed by Councillors to cover their costs when they are required to travel for approved duties
