Allergy and Intolerance

Since December 2014 it has been a requirement for food businesses to provide allergy information on food sold unpackaged, in for example catering outlets, deli counters, bakeries and sandwich bars. Guidance has been developed to help businesses meet these new requirements and this page will continue to be updated as more support tools are made available.

There will also be changes to existing legislation on labelling allergenic ingredients in pre-packed foods. Guidance has been developed to help businesses meet these new requirements and this page will be updated as this progresses. More information about legislation relating to running a food business can be found on the Food Standards Agency website. The Food Standards Agency provides free online allergy training for food handlers to undertake.
