Mablethorpe, Trusthorpe & Sutton on Sea Neighbourhood Development Order

Mablethorpe and Sutton Town Council are one of the first Town Council's to prepare a Neighbourhood Development Order (NDO). If you want to know more about NDOs have a look at the Neighbourhood Development Order FAQ's (PDF) [41KB] (opens new window)  .

Early in 2011, the Department of Communities and Local Government asked local Councils to trial the new Neighbourhood Planning process ahead of the Localism Bill becoming an Act of Parliament. We submitted a bid for £20,000 and were successful to pilot a NDO in Mablethorpe, Trusthorpe and Sutton on Sea.

This project, the first in East Lindsey, will be driven by the community with our officers in an advisory and supporting role. Mablethorpe and Sutton Town Council has established a Steering Group with equal representation from the Town Council and Mablethorpe, Trusthorpe and Sutton on Sea Neighbourhood Management. Other local representatives have been co-opted onto the group on a temporary or permanent basis to bring their knowledge and expertise to the process.

We are working together to set out an Order to help encourage economic development in the town.

The Steering Group is currently working towards consultation based on the three areas it has decided to focus on: Town Centres; the Industrial Estate; and Beach Huts. This will test the initial ideas of the group and see if there are any further ideas for what should be included.
