Retail Studies

We have undertaken a number of retail studies in the district. These assess things such as shopping trends and future shopping needs.

The Louth Retail Study 2007 includes the market town of Louth. The East Lindsey Retail Study 2008 includes the coastal resort towns of Skegness and Mablethorpe.

The Retail and Economic Study 2012 was carried out by Nathaniel Lichfield and looked at the future retail requirements in the towns of Alford, Horncastle and Louth. The study involved significant research within the communities, including shopping habits of residents, the potential impact of further retail development in the towns and sites in each town where future retail development would be best placed for the benefit of local people.

An update of the East Lindsey Retail and Economic Assessment 2012 was commissioned in 2014. The update was commissioned to ensure that the retail study was up-to-date and to provide a qualitative assessment of existing provision. The retail study was carried out by Nathaniel Lichfield.

As part of the update Nathaniel Lichfield were also asked to provide a more in-depth analysis of the quality of supermarket provision in Alford, Horncastle and Louth.
