Councillors have to agreed to follow a Code of Conduct to ensure high standards in the way they undertake their duties. Training on the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards is undertaken upon Election to Office. There is an expectation that Councillors will undertake other training to enable them to discharge their functions and their responsibility to the public. Councillors appointed to the Licensing, Planning and Planning Policy Committees must have received the most recent training prior to participation, such training to have been delivered within the previous 12 month period. Newly elected Councillors appointed to these committees must attend training within one month of appointment.
